Over 20,000 students skip HSC and equivalent exams, 15 expelled
A total of 15 examinees were expelled for cheating, irregularities and breaching discipline of the centre while 20,052 skipped exams, except Chittagong Education Board.
The Physics, Accounting, and Logic Second Paper exams under eight general education boards were held on Wednesday (July 15). The average absence rate in these exams was 2.67 per cent.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by Professor Syed Akteruzzaman. He is the President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.
According to the data, the total number of registered candidates under the eight general boards was 4,53,839. Out of them, 4,41,738 candidates appeared for the exams. A total of 12,101 examinees were absent across these boards. The overall absence rate stood at 2.69 per cent.
Statistics show that the highest number of absences was under the Dhaka Education Board with 3,450 students. The lowest was under the Sylhet Board with 199 students. A total of 10 examinees were expelled under these general boards.
Meanwhile, the Arabic Second Paper exam was held under the Madrasah Education Board. Out of 68,461 registered candidates, 63,606 participated. There were 4,855 absent students in this board, making the absence rate 7.09 per cent. Five students were expelled during this exam.
Additionally, exams for Business Organization and Management-2, Higher Mathematics-2, and Advanced Accounting were held under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Out of 80,304 registered candidates, 77,208 took part in the exams. A total of 3,096 students were absent in this board, with an absence rate of 3.86 per cent. No student was expelled under the Technical Board today.
