BNP, Jamaat put us in same bracket with AL: GM Quader

Jatiya Party (a faction) Chairman GM Quader alleged that the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and their allies had acted in coordination during the national election, claiming the alliance regarded the Awami League as its principal political adversary and the Jatiya Party as a secondary target.

He made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a memorial meeting at Pallinibas in Rangpur city marking the seventh death anniversary of Jatiya Party founder and former president Hussain Muhammad Ershad. 

BNP, Jamaat-Shibir and their allies are one group. Outside, people are being misled in various ways. But internally, their leaders have an understanding. Their real enemy is the Awami League, and there is another smaller enemy �" the Jatiya Party, GM Quader said.

Questioning the credibility of the latest parliamentary election, the Jatiya Party chief alleged electoral engineering and collusion involving the interim administration.

In 2018, votes cast during the day were counted at night. In 2024, it was even worse. Votes were counted at night, the following morning, at noon and again at night. In many cases, results were written on paper without votes being cast. We have sufficient evidence and documents, he claimed.

Although the election was conducted under an interim government, GM Quader alleged that the administration had reached an understanding with the BNP, Jamaat-Shibir and their allies regarding the electoral outcome.

We have received information from various sources that there was collusion with BNP, Jamaat-Shibir and their allies. They engineered where particular candidates would win and where the Jatiya Party would not. When the time comes, people will understand how the election was conducted, he said.
