Salman F Rahman gets bail in cheque dishonour case

 
A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to Salman F Rahman, former private industry and investment adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and vice-chairman of Beximco Group, in a cheque dishonour case.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam granted him bail on a bond of Tk 1,000 following a hearing.

Defence lawyer Mohaddesul Amin said an arrest warrant had been issued against Salman on May 7 after the case was filed, while the other accused had already secured bail.

The case was filed on January 9 by Ujjal Mondal on behalf of Export Import Bank of Bangladesh (EXIM Bank).
According to the complaint, Beximco LPG Unit-1 Ltd issued a cheque worth Tk 112 crore after repeated requests from the bank. The cheque, deposited at EXIM Bank’s corporate branch on November 19, 2025, was returned the same day due to insufficient funds.

Despite a legal notice sent on November 26 demanding payment within 30 days, the accused allegedly failed to settle the amount.
