Teenager dies from snakebite at Porsha

PORSHA, NAOGAON, July 19: A teenager died after being bitten by a poisonous snake in his bedroom in Paschim Haripur Village of Nitpur Union in Porsha Upazila of the district on Saturday morning. 

The deceased Rakibul Islam, 17, was the son of Momtaz Ali of that village. 

According to locals and family members, after Rakibul was bitten by a poisonous snake, he fell seriously ill. The family members first took him to a local shaman but as his condition worsened, he was rushed to the Porsha Upazila Health Complex where he died while undergoing treatment. 

The doctor on duty at the health complex said that by the time the patient was brought to the hospital, the poison had spread throughout his body. Although he was given proper treatment then, it was not possible to save him.
