3 more dengue deaths in 24hrs 

Three more people, including two women and one child, died from dengue fever caused by Aedes mosquito in the past 24 hours, raising the year’s death toll to 37.

During this period, 372 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, bringing the number of patients currently undergoing treatment to 1,034. Of them, 483 are receiving treatment at hospitals in Dhaka Division.

The figures were released in the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)’s regular dengue update on Monday.

So far this year, a total of 10,847 dengue patients have been hospitalised, while 9,786 have recovered and been discharged.

An analysis of the fatalities shows that of the 37 deaths recorded this year, 22 were women, accounting for 59.5 percent, while 15 were men, representing 40.5 percent.

In Dhaka Division, 12 deaths were reported at hospitals under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), six at hospitals under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one outside the areas covered by the two city corporations. Outside the capital, five deaths were reported in Mymensingh, five in Khulna, four in Chattogram, three in Barishal, and one in Rajshahi.
