A case has been filed against the controversial content creator and NCP leader Nuruzzaman Kafi. His father ABM Habibur Rahman and elder brother Mamun were also accused.
Allegations regarding land grabbing, extortion and damage to property in Kalapara of Patuakhali were made against them.
Acting headmaster of Khepupara Government Model Secondary School filed the case in Kalapara Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday, July 20. Court accepted the case and directed the Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalapara Police Station to investigate and submit a report.
The case statement stated, Kafi, Habibur Rahman and Mamun brought an excavator to the school-owned land in Rajapara mourza around 10:30AM on July 11. The motive was to construct a a road by altering the land structure.
Upon receiving the news, acting headmaster Abdur Rahim went to the spot with five assistant teachers and obstructed the work. Kafi became furious and demanded Tk 10 lakh as extortion from him.
The complaint added that the accused cut soil from nearly six decimals of land measuring 110 feet long and 30 feet wide. They transported soil worth at least Tk 1 lakh elsewhere using trolleys. They also dumped brick chips to build a road, causing an estimated loss of Tk 5 lakh to the school.
Earlier on July 14, Kafi held a press conference to explain his stance after land grabbing allegations surfaced. Before that issue settled, the acting headmaster filed the case in court, bringing extortion allegations against him.
However, Nuruzzaman Kafi denied the allegations. He stated that the legal heirs of the land won a Supreme Court verdict after a long legal battle. He claimed he purchased the land from them through a deed of agreement and constructed the road after the owners handed over possession.
