Imran Khan’s sister summoned over remarks on Pakistan military

Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Noreen Niazi, sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, over remarks she made about the military’s handling of India’s Operation Sindoor, according to NDTV.

The agency accused Niazi of sharing “false, offensive and inflammatory” content on social media targeting the military and other state institutions, the report said.

In an interview, Niazi reportedly claimed the Pakistani military had promoted a “victory narrative” about Operation Sindoor to conceal what she described as battlefield setbacks. She alleged the conflict had unfolded differently from the military’s public account.

The NCCIA notice also accused her of attempting to defame state institutions and spread what it called false narratives.

The report said Niazi also claimed, without providing evidence, that the episode was linked to Pakistan’s alleged move toward recognising Israel through the Abraham Accords. She further alleged that the military confrontation ended after intervention by US President Donald Trump.

Leaders of Pakistan’s ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) strongly criticised her remarks, saying they were against the country’s national interests, NDTV reported.
