MP Mannan launches tree plantation drive in Nabinagar

MP Abdul Mannan on Wednesday inaugurated a tree plantation and sapling distribution programme in Nabinagar upazila as part of a nationwide afforestation campaign.

The programme began with the planting of saplings along the Nabinagar-Gopalpur road, followed by the distribution of tree saplings among local residents at different locations in the upazila.

The Brahmanbaria-5 lawmaker said the government aims to plant 250 million trees across the country over the next five years, with priority being given to disaster-prone areas.

The programme is being implemented as part of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's nationwide greening initiative.

Abdul Mannan said the plantation drive would gradually be expanded to educational institutions, graveyards, roadsides and other important locations across the upazila.

Among others, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam, Upazila Engineer Ferdous Rahman, Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Md Saiful Islam, Nabinagar Poura BNP President Masud Rana, and local BNP leaders and activists attended the programme.
