A protest was held in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday over allegations that a heba (gift) deed was fraudulently executed using the thumb impression of an elderly man.
The protest was held in the Paragaon-Gauripur Bazar area under Habirbari Union. Demonstrators demanded a fair investigation, cancellation of the disputed deed and legal action against those involved.
The protesters alleged that the elderly man, Saheb Ali Sikdar, was taken out on the pretext of receiving medical treatment, during which his thumb impression was obtained and later used to execute the deed without the family's knowledge.
Family members, including Ahmad Ali Sikdar, Dr Mohammad Shahjahan Sikdar, Afsar Sikdar and Fuljan Begum, said the matter is currently pending before a court. They urged the authorities to conduct an impartial investigation and take legal action against those responsible.
The accused, Dulal Sikdar, denied the allegations, claiming the *heba* deed had been executed with the family's consent. He described the accusations as motivated and said the court would determine the facts of the case.
