
PABNA, July 22: Local residents of Himayetpur, Pabna, have submitted an application to the Prime Minister demanding 0.15 decimal of land at the birthplace of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra.
Earlier, land was sanctioned to Sree Sree Thakur Anukul Chandra Satsanga, Pabna. Late former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia had allocated it to the Satsanga.
A group of devotees of Thakur Anukul Chandra belonging to an organisation claimed the land and filed a case in court demanding that the land be handed over to them.
The local people near the Satsanga Asram have submitted the application to the Prime Minister through the Pabna District Administrator's office around 11:30 am on Wednesday. Additional District Administrator (General) Moniruzzaman accepted the application on behalf of the District Administrator.
On Wednesday morning, people from different walks of life from the Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Satsang Ashram area gathered in front of the District Administrator's office. A short rally was held there. Md. Afzal Hossain, Md. Mannan Malitha, and Md. Abul Kalam, among others, spoke on behalf of the locals.
As the Deputy Commissioner (DC) was absent, after the rally, Additional DC (General) Moniruzzaman accepted the application on behalf of the DC.
