NABINAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA, July 22: Brahmanbaria-5 Constituency MP Abdul Mannan inaugurated a tree planting and sapling distribution programme by planting saplings beside the Nabinagar-Gopalpur road in Nabinagar Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
At that time, MP Abdul Mannan said, “A programme to plant 25 crore trees will be implemented in the country in the next five years. As part of this, a massive tree plantation initiative has been taken in Nabinagar. Saplings of different species of trees will be planted on a priority basis in disaster-prone areas.”
He said that trees maintain the balance of the environment and play an important role in reducing the damage caused by natural disasters. This programme is being implemented as part of the announcement made by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman to green the country.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam, Upazila Engineer Ferdous Rahman, PIO Md Saiful Islam and Municipal BNP President Masud Rana were present at the programme.
