Hefazat-e-Islam calls for prayers for ailing religious affairs minister

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh on Thursday urged people across the country to pray for the speedy recovery of Religious Affairs Minister Alhaj Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, who is currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital and is scheduled to undergo hip surgery on Friday.

Speaking at a prayer gathering held after Asr prayers at Jamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa Mosque in Chattogram, Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari called on Islamic scholars, students and the public to seek Allah's blessings for the adviser's quick recovery.

Describing Kaikobad as a pious, patriotic and humanitarian political figure, Babunagari said he had suffered severe persecution under what he described as the previous Awami League government. He prayed for the adviser's full recovery and his early return to public service.

The prayer programme was attended by Nayeb-e-Muhtamim of the madrasa Maulana Ayyub Babunagari, along with prominent Islamic scholars, teachers and students.

Similar prayer gatherings were also held at several prominent madrasas across the country, including Darul Uloom Hathazari, Jamia Obaidia Nanupur, Jamia Arabia Jiri, Jamia Darul Arqam Al-Islamia in Brahmanbaria, Jamia Yunusia and Ashraful Uloom Madrasa in Cumilla.

The Religious Affairs Minister is currently receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left hip on Friday.
