One clinic sealed, another shut temporarily, two fined in Munshiganj drive

A mobile court in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj has sealed one private clinic, temporarily suspended another, and fined two others for irregularities during an inspection of private clinics and diagnostic centres.

The drive was conducted from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday (July 25) to verify the quality of services, validity of licences, availability of required manpower, and medical equipment at healthcare facilities. The operation was conducted under the supervision of District Civil Surgeon Dr Sajeda Begum, with Gazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Umme Hafsa Nadia leading the mobile court.

During the inspection, six healthcare institutions were checked. Gazaria Popular Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Bhoberchar Union was ordered to suspend its activities temporarily. Bhoberchar General Hospital and Diagnostic Centre was fined Tk 3,000, while Hamdard General Hospital at Jamaldi Bus Stand area was fined Tk 10,000.

Meanwhile, Nazma General Hospital and Diagnostic Centre was sealed off by the authorities for violations found during the inspection.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the services provided by Shukria Diagnostic and General Hospital and Meghna Diagnostic and General Hospital in the Jamaldi area.

Upazila Family Planning Officer Dr Sharmin Ahmed Tithi, District Senior Health Education Officer Nasir Uddin, Residential Medical Officer of Gazaria Upazila Health Complex Dr Nusrat Farzana Khan, and Upazila Sanitary Inspector Farhana Khanam were present during the drive.

The upazila administration said such inspections will continue regularly to ensure public health safety and maintain standards at private healthcare facilities.
