Mother chops dead drug-addict son in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, July 25: A woman allegedly chopped her drug-addict son in Asambasti Mirza Tila in Tabalchhari area of the town on Saturday afternoon.

Deceased Sakibul Islam was the son of Rafiqul Islam, a CNG auto-rickshaw driver by profession, of the area.

According to local and police sources, the deceased got into an argument with his family members while intoxicated. 

At one stage, the mother Rekha Islam got angry and chopped her son with a machete. The locals rushed Sakibul to Rangamati General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Dr Fuhad Hasan Khan, emergency medical officer of Rangamati General Hospital, said, “The young man died due to excessive bleeding before being brought to the hospital.”

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Jasim Uddin said the police have taken the mother and the father into their custody.
