
LALMOHAN, BHOLA, July 25: Leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies brought out a celebratory procession in Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola on Friday evening after Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, assumed office as the Acting President.
The procession, organised by the Lalmohan Upazila and Municipality units of the BNP, began in front of the party's office on Karim Road in the municipal town and marched through the town's main streets.
Political activists and people from different walks of life joined the procession, chanting slogans to express their jubilation.
Following the procession, a brief rally was held at the Chourasta intersection in the municipality.
Addressing the gathering, speakers described Major Hafiz's appointment as acting president as a significant development for the country. They expressed hope that he would play an important role in the nation's welfare and help strengthen Bangladesh's democratic progress.
The speakers also thanked Honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for appointing Major Hafiz to the post and wished the acting president good health and success in discharging his responsibilities.
Among those present were Lalmohan Upazila BNP President Md Jafar Iqbal, General Secretary Md Shafiqul Islam Babul, former Joint Convener Principal Md Farid Uddin, Sohel Aziz Shaheen, Safiullah Hawlader, former Municipality BNP General Secretary Zahirul Islam Sumon, Upazila Jubo Dal President Md Shahinul Islam Kabir, General Secretary Kazi Md Hasanuzzaman, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Rezaur Rahman Shaheen, Member Secretary Md Shahidul Islam, Upazila JASAS President Md Azadur Rahman, and other local leaders.
