Girlfriend put on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Beauty Akter, the alleged girlfriend of railway official Mamun Mia, on a three-day remand in a murder case filed over his death in the capital’s Mohakhali area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order after hearing a remand petition filed by the investigation officer. Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s prosecution department Sub-Inspector Moktar Hossain confirmed the matter.

According to court sources, Banani Police Station Sub-Inspector Tarek Hasan, the investigation officer in the case, had sought a 10-day remand for Beauty on July 14. The court scheduled Sunday for a hearing in the presence of the accused.
