Gunfight between BGB and terrorists in Khagrachhari, arms recovered

A gunfight broke out between a patrol team of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Zamini Para Zone and armed terrorists at Matiranga border in Khagrachhari.

A press briefing was held on Monday afternoon at the Zamini Para Zone Headquarters in Matiranga to give details of the drive.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Khalid Ibn Hossain, Commander of Zamini Para Zone, briefed the press. He said an operation was conducted at Singhapara border under their operational jurisdiction last night based on secret information. Sensing the presence of the operation team, a group of armed terrorists fled the scene.

During a search in the area, BGB seized four pistols, 14 rounds of ammunition, and other equipment. On their way back to the Border Outpost (BOP), another group of terrorists open fired on BGB personnel. The gunfight lasted for about 10 minutes between both sides.

However, no casualties were reported.

BGB assured that strict monitoring and intense surveillance will continue against illegal border crossing, smuggling of arms, ammunition, drugs, and all kinds of illicit trade.
