DU names Prof. Mahbobor new acting social science dean

Dhaka University (DU) has appointed political science professor Kazi Mohammad Mahbobor Rahman as acting dean of its Faculty of Social Sciences, according to a letter signed by acting registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed on Monday.

Previously, the post fell vacant after acting dean Professor Md Mehedi Hasan Khan was appointed to the Bangladesh University Grants Commission. Rahman’s appointment, made under clause 17(2) of the university’s First Statute, took effect on July 27.

He will hold the role until an elected dean takes over or for a maximum of 90 days. Rahman also directs the university's Higher Social Science Research Centre.
