Smuggler arrested with foreign cigarettes in Brahmanbaria

DB police has arrested a smuggler with 30 cartons of duty-evaded foreign cigarettes during a drive in Brahmanbaria.

A team of DB police acted on a tip off and conducted a drive around 11:00AM on Monday, July 27 in the Kodda area under Ward No. 5 of Basudeb Union in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila. During the operation, police detained a man named Mojibur Rahman, son of Nur Ahmad, resident of Dakshin Rupkania village under Satkania Police Station in Chittagong district.

Police said 30 cartons of foreign-brand cigarettes, illegally brought into the country by evading customs duties, were recovered from his possession. The seized goods were confiscated in accordance with legal procedures.

A case has been filed under the relevant laws with Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station in connection with the incident.
