National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam has announced a protest rally in Habiganj on Wednesday, alleging that BNP activists attacked NCP leaders and activists in the district.
The announcement prompted the temporary suspension of two scheduled marches in Moulvibazar under the party’s ongoing July campaign across northern Bangladesh.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sarjis said the protest procession and rally will begin at 3:00 pm in Habiganj town. He alleged that the attack on NCP leaders and activists was carried out by members of the BNP.
According to the post, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah and several other central leaders, including Joint Convener Dr Atik Mujahid and Sarwar Tushar, are expected to attend the programme.
Sarjis also made strongly worded remarks directed at BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in his post, pledging to continue the party’s street movement.
