Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been removed from the captaincy of Bangladesh’s ODI team, while Litton Das has been handed the leadership role. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday.

Miraz’s recent performances in white-ball cricket came under heavy criticism, with many questioning his form and leadership after Bangladesh’s ODI series defeat against Zimbabwe. Since then, speculation had been growing that he could lose the captaincy, and the rumours have now been confirmed.

Litton Das, who was already serving as Bangladesh’s T20I captain, will now lead the Tigers in both white-ball formats. The wicketkeeper-batter has taken over the ODI captaincy with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Miraz was recently playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). He returned home midway through the tournament on Wednesday, leaving the competition mainly to prepare for Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of Australia.
