BENAPOLE, JAHORE, July 31: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set a revenue collection target of Tk 10,588 crore for Benapole Custom House for the 2026-27 fiscal year, following a Tk 4,731 crore shortfall in the previous fiscal year.
The new target is Tk 702 crore lower than the Tk 11,290 crore target set for FY 2025-26.
According to customs officials, Benapole Custom House collected Tk 6,559 crore in revenue in FY2 025-26, falling well short of the target. During the same period, imports through Benapole Port declined by nearly 197,000 tonnes.
Aminul Haque, Vice-President of the Benapole Import-Export Association, said increasing import activities, ensuring transparency in trade and taking effective measures against smuggling and irregularities were essential to achieving the revenue target.
Benapole Custom House Assistant Commissioner Rahat Hossain said customs officials were making every effort to increase revenue collection.
He added that disciplinary action and fines against those involved in irregularities would continue, expressing hope that the revised target could be achieved with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
