Recommended assistant teachers for government primary schools began an indefinite sit-in in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital on Sunday, demanding that the government complete their appointments within August.
The demonstration began around 11AM under tight police security. The protesters announced that they will continue the protest until their demand is met.
A total of 14,384 candidates were recommended for appointment following the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment examination held on January 9 this year.
However, despite completing the recruitment process, the recommended candidates have yet to receive their appointment letters.
