Police have arrested three persons along with hemp and hemp trees from Kawkhali Upazila of Pirojpur District and Dashmina Upazila of Patuakhali District.
KAWKHALI, PIROJPUR: Police have arrested a drug dealer along with two hemp plants of about seven feet in height from the Sialkathi area of Kawkhali Upazila of the district early Sunday.
According to police sources, a police team led by Kawkhali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mohiuddin and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Khairul Hasan raided the Sialkathi area at around 2 am on Sunday and arrested Md Ibrahim, 20, son of Abdul Halim of Sialkathi Village along with two hemp plants.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kawkhali Police Station (PS) Anwar Hossain said that necessary legal action has been taken against him under the Narcotics Control Act and he has been sent to court.
DASHMINA, PATUAKHALI: Police have arrested a man named Gafur Hawlader, 61, and his wife Sufia Begum, 50, along with 150 grams of hemp from their home in Uttar Katakhali Village of Ward No. 8 in Sadar Union of Dashmina Upazila of the district on Friday night.
Some local residents, who did not want to be named, said that Gafur Hawlader and his wife had been living in Tongi area of Gazipur city for a long time. About four years ago, they returned to their home area and started living permanently. Since then, there has been concern among the locals about the spread of drugs in the area.
Dashmina PS OC Atiqul Islam told The Daily Observer that a case under the relevant law was filed against the arrestees and they were sent to court on Saturday.
