South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jong-kwan is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Monday for talks aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Bangladesh and South Korea.

According to diplomatic sources, the visit will focus on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, boosting investment and advancing negotiations on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Kim is expected to meet senior government officials as well as business leaders during his visit. Discussions are likely to cover investment in the ready-made garment sector, technology, electronics, infrastructure, skilled workforce development and other emerging industries.

Bangladesh and South Korea have already held several rounds of CEPA negotiations, with the latest meeting taking place in Seoul in July.

Officials say the visit is significant as Bangladesh prepares for its post-LDC trade transition, with both countries seeking to deepen economic cooperation and create new opportunities for investment, technology transfer and export growth.
