Intellectually disabled housewife raped in Pabna; case filed

Allegation of rape has been raised by against a man for assaulting a 23-year-old housewife in Santhia upazila of Pabna.

The housewife is intellectually challenged.

The incident took place in Dhopadaha Union of the upazila. The accused is identified as Milan Sardar, 40, son of late Khorshed Sardar of the same village as the victim lives in.

A case has been filed with the police regarding this matter.

According to case statement and family sources, the victim was staying at her father’s house on the afternoon of July 29. Neighbor Milan Sardar lured her into his house to give her guavas.

Taking advantage of the empty house, he forcibly raped her against her will. He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

On July 31, the victim informed her husband about the incident. Later on August 1, her husband filed a case with Santhia Police Station as the plaintiff (Case number 3).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Santhia Police Station Anisur Rahman said the victim's husband has filed a case in this regard. However, the accused is absconding.

All-out efforts are underway to arrest him.
