One killed in mob-lynching in Pabna 

PABNA, Aug 3: A man was killed in a mob-lynching on suspicion of theft while trying to rob a shop in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna.

Earlier, the shop owner and his son were seriously injured in a stabbing by the accused. They have been admitted to the hospital.

The incident took place at around 3 am on Monday in Mistripara Thandatola Village of Sahapur Union of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Asadur Rahman confirmed this information.

The deceased was identified as Manik Hossain alias Sumon Sumon, 32, son of late Boyen Mandal of Mahadevpur Azijaltola Village of the same union.

The injured shop owner Habibul Mandal alleged that Manik alias Sumon entered his grocery shop late at night with the intention of stealing. As there was a residential house next to the shop, he went outside and tried to stop the thief after hearing the noise. At that time, the accused Suman randomly hit his hands and back with a Chinese axe he had. When Habibul shouted, his two sons also randomly hacked them and injured them.

 Later, local people rushed to the spot, arrested the accused and gave him a thrashing. The accused Manik alias Suman died on the spot.

The injured grocer Habibul Islam and his two sons have been admitted to the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex.

In this regard, OC Asadur Rahman said that after receiving information about the incident, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. The body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Legal action will be taken after the investigation.
