Gopalganj DC inspires students through science dialogue

GOPALGANJ, Aug 3: Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Arif-Uz-Zaman held an interactive science dialogue with more than 200 students after visiting two secondary schools in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Sunday.

The event, titled "The Infinite Journey of the Universe," was organised at Tuthamandra High School and brought together students from the school and neighbouring Tuthamandra Sarajubala Girls' High School.

Earlier in the day, the DC toured classrooms at both institutions, interacted with students about their studies and reviewed academic activities with teachers. He urged teachers to remain attentive in ensuring quality classroom instruction.

During the dialogue, the DC discussed topics including science, space exploration, the origin of the universe and modern technology. Students actively participated in the session, with 43 of them asking questions on various scientific issues, which the DC answered.
Addressing the students, Arif-Uz-Zaman stressed the importance of developing a scientific mindset and acquiring knowledge to become skilled and responsible citizens.

He encouraged students to study diligently, saying scientific knowledge would help them contribute to national development while achieving personal success.

"The world today is driven by science and technology. This initiative has been taken to help our students keep pace with the modern world," he said, expressing hope that such programmes would inspire greater interest in science education and innovation.

Among those present were District Education Officer Khandaker Ruhul Amin, Executive Magistrate Prince Mahmud, Tuthamandra High School Headmaster Pradyut Kumar Bhadra, School Ad Hoc Committee President Krishna Prasad Biswas, Sahapur Union Parishad Chairman Anadi Sarkar, guardian SM Nazrul Islam, Sahapur Union BNP President Ratan Hira, and teachers and students from both schools.
