A case has been filed against Shafiqul Hasan Dipu, 50, founder and director of a kindergarten school in Badalgachhi, Naogaon, over the alleged attempted molestation of a student.

Dipu is also the Akkelpur Upazila Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami in Joypurhat and a registered Kazi of Kola Union.

The allegation sparked severe outrage in the area. Agitated students, guardians, and locals vandalized and set fire to the school. Police and fire service personnel intervened to bring the situation under control.

The victim’s father filed a case with Badalgachhi Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, naming Shafiqul Hasan Dipu as the sole accused.

According to the case statement, family members, and local sources, student and teacher attendance was very low on Monday morning due to rain.

The victim went to school to attend a coaching class at 7:30AM. Finding her alone in the classroom, Headmaster Shafiqul Hasan Dipu allegedly hugged her, behaved inappropriately, and made unethical proposals.

The student broke free, ran to the roadside outside, and later returned home in tears to inform her family. Tension has been brewing in the area ever since.

The victim's father said, "My daughter is mentally broken. She said the teacher hugged her and made obscene remarks. I filed a police case and want exemplary justice."

Protests and Arson

Hundreds of guardians, students, and locals gathered in front of the school on Tuesday morning. They launched a demonstration demanding the immediate arrest and punishment of the accused teacher.

At one point, a section of the crowd vandalized the school and set several rooms on fire. Police and fire service teams rushed to the scene and doused the flames.

Later, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishrat Jahan Soni and Badalgachhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Ruhul Amin visited the spot. The situation calmed down after they assured the protesters of a fair investigation and legal action.

Reactions and Statements

Kola Union Parishad Chairman Shahinur Islam Swapan said, "I heard about previous allegations against this individual. If the current allegation is proven true, necessary legal action, including canceling his Kazi license, should be taken."

The accused, Shafiqul Hasan Dipu, could not be reached as his mobile phone remained switched off. However, school teacher Sunnatun Nesa denied the allegation. She claimed the incident was planned to cause controversy for the institution and expressed confidence that an investigation would reveal the truth.

Joypurhat District Jamaat Assistant Secretary Hasibul Alam said, "I have learned about the incident. We are looking into the matter. If his involvement is proven through investigation, organizational action will be taken against him according to the party constitution."

Badalgachhi Police Station OC Muhammad Ruhul Amin stated that an investigation has begun and police are working to bring the accused under the law. UNO Ishrat Jahan Soni added that the matter is being taken very seriously and appropriate legal action will follow if the charges are verified.
