Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has donated money to help rebuild an area outside of Madrid in Spain affected by wildfires.
According to Yahoo News, Isabel Diaz Ayuso; president of the Community of Madrid, confirmed the matter.
She posted on X that the former FC Barcelona player has donated roughly €80,000 for the cause. Leo has given the money for the reconstruction of the Sierra Oeste de Madrid.
"I want to thank him and tell him that the people of Madrid hope to welcome him soon to give him the applause he deserves," she added.
Mentionable, the region west of the Spanish capital has been badly hit by blazes. The flames caused widespread damage to land and property, forcing residents to evacuate their homes.
Messi is known for his philanthropy. He set up the Leo Messi Foundation in 2007 to support children and young people through health, education, and sports programmes.
