Gang Rape Of 2 Women Six jailed until death

 
A Dhaka tribunal on Tuesday sentenced six men to life imprisonment until death for abducting and gang-raping two young women in South Keraniganj in 2022.

Judge Munshi Md. Moshiar Rahman of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 also fined each convict Tk 100,000 and ordered the recovery of the fines from their movable and immovable assets, if necessary, to compensate the victims or their families.

The convicts are Rahul, Md. Diamond, Afsar Uddin Anim, Parvez Haque Palash, Minhaj alias Minhaj Abedin and Minhaj alias Babu. Rahul remains absconding and the court issued an arrest warrant against him. The other five were sent to jail after the verdict.

According to the prosecution, the victims and several friends were returning home after celebrating a birthday on June 25, 2022. While searching for transport in the Shubhadya area of Keraniganj, the group was intercepted by the accused, who assaulted the victims friends, robbed them of cash and mobile phones and took the two women to a nearby field, where they were raped. The assailants also recorded videos of the assaults.

Police rescued the victims after being informed by their friends. A case was filed on June 29, 2022, by the father of one of the victims. During the investigation, RAB arrested Minhaj Abedin and recovered a victim’s mobile phone containing videos of the assaults.
