5 arrested for forging PM’s seal, ministers’signatures

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested five members of an organised fraud ring accused of forging the official seals, signatures and letterheads of Prime Minister Tarek Rahman, several ministers and state ministers, members of parliament and senior government officials.

Police seized 41 forged government seals, a large number of official letterheads, two computers, a laptop and eight mobile phones during the operation.

The information was disclosed by DMP Additional Commissioner (Detective) Md Shafiqul Islam at a press briefing held at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Md Faruk Hossain, 41, Sakib Khan, 25, Masum Munsi, 45, Mir Towhidul Islam, 36, and Md Bakul Mondal, 35.
