Malaysian team in Dhaka to review recruitment process

A high-level Malaysian delegation arrived in Dhaka early Tuesday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the manpower sector, marking a significant step as Bangladesh remains optimistic that Malaysia will reopen its labour market to Bangladeshi workers by the end of August.

During the visit, the delegation will observe the recruitment and training process of Bangladeshi workers who were unable to travel to Malaysia by May 31, 2024, despite having completed all required overseas employment documentation.

The delegation comprises officials from Malaysia's Home Ministry�"Salwani Binti Ismail, Kamal Norforid Bin Kamaruddin and Rosnani Binti Abu Zarin�"as well as Immigration Department officials Arbaiyah Binti Jusop and Kamaruddin Bin Ramli.

They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around on Tuesday, where they were received by officials of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL).

BOESL Managing Director Mohammad Rashedul Haque personally welcomed the delegation, presenting a bouquet to the head of the visiting team. BOESL General Manager Noor Ahmed, Deputy Manager Sayeed Saleheen and officials of the agency's Airport Welfare Desk were also present.

In a press release, BOESL said the visit is expected to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and Malaysia in overseas employment and labour migration.
