Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled the amir of its Gazipur union unit in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj over allegations of immoral conduct.

The decision to expel Nurul Islam, also known as Sajal, was taken at an emergency organisational meeting of the Chunarughat upazila unit on Thursday afternoon.

Confirming the matter, Chunarughat Upazila Jamaat Ameer Idris Ali said allegations brought against Nurul Islam were found to be true following an internal review, prompting local leaders to expel him from the party.

According to local sources, Nurul Islam allegedly had an illicit relationship with the wife of a physically challenged man in the area. He was reportedly caught by local residents after entering the woman’s house late on Tuesday night. The following morning, local Jamaat leaders took him into their custody and assured residents that the matter would be addressed.

Attempts to contact Nurul Islam for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not answer repeated phone calls.
