The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined seven business establishments a total of Tk 33,000 during market monitoring drives across Khulna division.

Five monitoring teams from the Khulna divisional and district offices conducted the drives on Thursday (August 6) to control essential commodity prices and safeguard consumer interests.

During the market drives, officials verified price lists and purchase vouchers for key items, including rice, edible oil, LPG cylinders, medicines, potatoes, local onions, vegetables, poultry, and eggs. Diagnostic centers were also inspected.

In Khulna's Borobazar, two separate teams fined Khaja Trading, Dulal Store, and Ma Babar Doa Enterprise a total of Tk 12,000.

Additionally, monitoring teams fined two shops Tk 7,000 in Kushtia, two establishments Tk 6,000 in Bagerhat, and one enterprise Tk 8,000 in Satkhira.

DNCRP officials instructed traders to properly display price charts, retain purchase vouchers, and sell commodities at government-fixed rates.

The agency warned of strict legal action against traders charging exorbitant prices or engaging in anti-consumer practices.

The directorate stated that such monitoring drives will continue in the public interest.
