PM to visit Ctg Sunday, meet Hefazat chief

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Fatikchhari in Chattogram on Sunday (August 9), where he is expected to meet Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari.

Hefazat Joint Secretary General Mawlana Azizul Haque Islamabadi said to media that the prime minister’s visit was a matter of joy for the organisation. 

He said a written list of demands from the Hefazat Ameer is expected to be handed over to the prime minister.

Mawlana Azizur Rahman, a grandson of Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, said the prime minister had expressed his desire to meet the Hefazat chief after taking oath as prime minister. However, as Ramadan began the following day and Babunagari was staying at Babunagar Madrasa to lead the Taraweeh prayers, he informed the prime minister that he would not be able to travel to Dhaka.

The prime minister then expressed his desire to visit Fatikchhari himself to meet Babunagari and seek his prayers.
