Four injured as ambulance overturns on Dhaka-Mawa expressway

Four people, including a patient, were injured when an ambulance overturned on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:30pm in the Mural area under Padma Bridge North Police Station.
According to Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, the ambulance was travelling towards Dhaka when one of its rear tyres suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to overturn.
Two units from the Sreenagar Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving the information and began rescue operations.
The injured, including the patient, were rescued and taken to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex in a Fire Service ambulance, Shafiqul Islam said.
The injured were identified as Zamiruddin Ansari, 53, Shahidul Islam, 45, Tarzin Jahan, 50, and Sadika Ansari, 12. All of them are residents of Golamnagar area in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
The ambulance was carrying a patient from Jhenaidah to Islami Bank Hospital in Kakrail, Dhaka, when the accident occurred. Five people, including the driver, patient and relatives, were inside the ambulance at the time.
