XI Admission Fees: Which colleges will cost more

The results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are going to be published soon on Monday (August 10). 

Following the publication of the results, the admission process for Class XI will begin. However, the education boards have yet to officially announce the admission process, fees, and other related costs.

Recently, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee held a meeting on Class XI admissions. At the meeting, it was decided that, as in previous years, students would be admitted based on their SSC results.

Admission fees and other costs are also expected to remain largely unchanged depending on the location of the college.

According to sources at the Dhaka Education Board, under the 2025 Class XI admission policy, the admission fee for MPO-listed colleges was Tk 5,000 for both Bangla and English versions in the Dhaka metropolitan area. 

In metropolitan areas outside Dhaka, the fee was Tk 3,000, while it was Tk 2,000 at district-level colleges and Tk 1,500 at colleges in upazilas and rural areas.

For non-MPO colleges, the admission fee in the Dhaka metropolitan area was Tk 7,500 for the Bangla version and Tk 8,500 for the English version. In metropolitan areas outside Dhaka, the fee was Tk 5,000 for the Bangla version and Tk 6,000 for the English version.

At the district level, non-MPO colleges could charge Tk 3,000 for the Bangla version and Tk 2,500 for the English version. In upazilas and rural areas, the admission fee was Tk 2,500 for the Bangla version and Tk 3,000 for the English version.

In addition, the education boards were allowed to collect a total of Tk 335 from students during the initial confirmation of admission. This included Tk 142 as a registration fee, Tk 50 as a sports fee, Tk 15 for Rover/Ranger activities, Tk 16 for the Red Crescent, Tk 7 for science and technology activities, Tk 5 for BNCC, and Tk 100 as teachers’ welfare and retirement benefit fees.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman said to media that there would be no major changes to the existing rules.

“The rules are not being changed significantly. Admission fees and other charges will also remain almost the same.”
