Scared, can't send money to family, says BFF British Coach

Gerard Jones, the British coach of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Under-20 football team, expressed deep frustration and safety concerns in an explosive social media post on Monday morning.

The UEFA 'A' license holder was appointed by the BFF last June. He is currently leading a residential training camp with the squad at the Shamsul Huda Academy in Jashore.

In a post from his personal Facebook profile, the coach wrote, "Feeling very down and depressed. I am concerned for my family and my safety. Constantly having to face continuous misunderstandings or unpleasant situations, and today another hard reality was accepted."

"Waiting for salary. I have no money and cannot send money for my wife and children to eat. I am terrified and very scared for my life," Jones added in the post.

The coach’s sudden remarks have created confusion within the football fraternity.

However, when contacted, BFF General Secretary Emran Hossain Tushar confirmed that coach’s salary was already transferred into his bank account. Due to tax regulations, it takes time to send his salary to his wife. It is unclear why he posted those things of Facebook.

Commenting on the safety issue, Tushar said they were unaware about any problems and were looking into the matter. 

It was learned that Coach Gerard Jones is currently staying in Dhaka to complete the process of remitting his salary home.
