Hasina, Shakib to be given full security if they return: Dr Zahed

 
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan will be provided full security if they return to Bangladesh to face legal proceedings, while India must respect Bangladesh’s sovereignty and abandon its ‘fascist-era thinking’ to improve bilateral ties, Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman said Tuesday.
He said Sheikh Hasina would receive full security and all legal and constitutional rights if she returned to Bangladesh and faced the judicial process as an accused.
Zahed made the remarks while answering journalists’ questions at a press conference on the progress of government activities at the Press Information Department (PID) conference room at the Secretariat.
He said Bangladesh is a democratic state and everyone must accept court decisions. Even a person facing serious allegations has legal and constitutional rights during the judicial process, he added.
The possible return of Shakib Al Hasan also came up at the press conference. Zahed said the government would ensure Shakib’s full security if he returned to face the cases filed against him.
