‘Ebong Boi’ donates books to Anirban Library in Paikgachha

‘Ebong Boi’ a publication focused on books and reading, donated a collection of books to Anirban Library in Mahmudkati of Paikgachha upazila, Khulna on Wednesday morning, aiming to encourage reading habits among the younger generation.

The books were handed over at a brief programme attended by writers, journalists, academics and environmental activists. Anirban Library General Secretary Prabhat Debnath received the books on behalf of the library.

Among others, ‘Ebong Boi’ editor Foysal Ahmed, tree enthusiast and writer-teacher Safiar Rahman, Anirban Library Vice-President Basudev Roy, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Assistant Professor Mir Mohammad Ali, former Dhaka Reporters Unity president Rafiqul Islam Azad, Sundarbans and Coastal Protection Movement convener Nikhil Chandra Bhadra, environmentalist and journalist Shakila Parvin Ruma, Daily Jug Barta editor Md Rafiqul Islam Sujon, journalist Simanta Bardhan, environmentalist and journalist Md Hasib Sardar, and student Riyad Hossain were present.

Speaking at the programme, Faisal Ahmed said readers are the lifeblood of a library and stressed the need to encourage the younger generation to visit libraries and develop regular reading habits.

He called for various initiatives to make libraries more attractive and accessible to young people.

“We regularly donate books to different libraries through And Books,” he said, adding that such initiatives would help expand access to books and promote a culture of reading.
