
Gunze United Ltd has successfully completed and commissioned a 424 kWp rooftop solar PV project at its facility in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ), Savar, marking another step toward sustainable and efficient green energy generation in Bangladesh.
The rooftop solar project, comprising 722 solar panels, is now fully operational and generating clean electricity for the facility. The project is expected to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while supporting Gunze United Limited’s commitment to sustainable industrial operations.
The launching and commissioning ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Gunze United Limited facility at DEPZ, Savar, Dhaka. A Doa Mahfil was also organised on the occasion, says a press release.
Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, Director, United Group; Khandker Sayeedul Islam, Group Executive Director, United Group; and Hitoshi Mori, Managing Director, Gunze United Limited, attended the event.
Gunze United Ltd’s 424 kWp solar installation demonstrates the potential to utilise industrial rooftop spaces for renewable energy generation without requiring additional land, supporting Bangladesh’s broader transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy.
