Zero pass rate at Sapahar madrasa despite 15 teachers

 
SAPAHAR, NAOGAON, Aug 13: None of the 13 students who sat for this year's Dakhil examination from Bhabuk Naimuddin Sarkar Dakhil Madrasa in Sapahar Upazila of Naogaon passed, raising concerns among locals about the institution's academic performance.
The madrasa has 15 teachers and five employees, yet its pass rate was zero per cent this year.
The 13 students from the institution appeared in the Dakhil examination, but none managed to pass, according to the results published.
Madrasa Superintendent Ataullah said, “Families became financially vulnerable during the Covid-19 pandemic. The result may have been caused by a lack of awareness.”
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shamsul Kabir said the result was disappointing and unexpected. “As government representatives, we will caution them,” he said.
Results from several other madrasas in the upazila were also poor. At Manikura Dakhil Madrasa, only one of 15 candidates passed. 
Similarly, one of 12 candidates passed at Deopara Shingpara Madrasa, one of 15 at Rasulpur Dakhil Madrasa and one of 18 at Islampur Dakhil Madrasa. At Moradanga Moynakuri Alim Madrasa, only one of 24 candidates passed.
A total of 833 students from madrasas in Sapahar sat for the Dakhil examination this year. Of them, 283 passed, giving an overall pass rate of 33.97 per cent. Only two students secured GPA-5.
Parents and concerned locals have called for improved teaching quality, regular classes, better student attendance and stronger academic preparation ahead of examinations.
