Five Joypurhat institutions record zero pass rate

 
JOYPURHAT, Aug 13: Five educational institutions in Joypurhat have recorded a zero pass rate in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations, with none of their students passing.
District Education Officer (in-charge) Azizul Hakim disclosed the information to the media on Thursday.
The institutions are Pur MU Fazil Madrasa in Kalai, where all 21 candidates failed; Ganipur Dakhil Madrasa in Akkelpur, where all 16 candidates failed; Joypurhat Adarsha Siddiqiya Dakhil Madrasa, where all eight candidates failed; Kapashtikri Dakhil Madrasa in Khetlal, where one of six candidates was absent and the remaining five failed; and Shiratti United High School in Panchbibi, where all five candidates failed.
Ganipur Dakhil Madrasa has recorded a zero pass rate for the second consecutive year.
According to the district education office, a total of 12,003 students appeared in the SSC and equivalent examinations in Joypurhat this year. Of them, 7,178 passed and 801 secured GPA-5.
The district's overall pass rate stood at 59.48 per cent. The pass rate was 67.24 per cent in secondary schools, 40.35 per cent in madrasas and 43.51 per cent in technical institutions.
Despite the overall results, Joypurhat Girls' Cadet College achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. All 56 candidates passed, with 54 securing A+ and two obtaining A grades.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jesmin Nahar said the Education Ministry seeks information every year on institutions where no student passes.
“As soon as we receive the ministry's letter this year, we will send the final report and take necessary measures in line with its directives,” she said.
