CUET ponds declared ‘risky’, bathing banned

Following the deaths of three students, the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has declared all ponds on the campus as “risky”.
A notice issued by the CUET Student Welfare Department on Thursday said that it going into the water at any pond on campus for bathing or swimming is completely prohibited.
“If you enter the pond in violation of the instructions, it will be considered as a violation of university discipline and action will be taken against those concerned as per the rules,” the notice said.
Two students died while taking a bath in the pond of the university’s Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
They were identified as Arnob Dutta of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Shanto Deb of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
On the evening of Jul 28, a student named Arnob Saha of the Department of Mechanical Engineering while taking a bath in the same pond.�"bdnews24
