Darwin Test: Hazlewood 300; Miraz 65

Josh Hazlewood claimed his 300th Test wicket by dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz right after lunch on the third day of the Darwin Test.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz returned to the pavilion after Bangladesh added just one run to their score following the lunch break. Josh Hazlewood completed his 300th wicket in Test cricket by dismissing him. Miraz was out after scoring 65 runs.

Bangladesh's score currently stands at 418 for 9, holding a lead of 220 runs.

On Saturday (August 15), Miraz picked up his 12th Test career half-century by taking two runs off the final ball of the 126th over bowled by Mitchell Starc. He structured his 117-ball innings with five boundaries.

Early in the day, Josh Hazlewood dismissed Hasan Mahmud in the 13.5th over of the morning. His fine delivery struck Hasan straight on the pad. The umpire gave him out, and Hasan opted for a review, but it went in vain. Hasan departed for 14, leaving Bangladesh at 354 for 7.

Hazlewood then removed Taijul Islam, who scored 17 runs. Taijul was caught in the gully to hand Hazlewood his 299th Test wicket. The decision to switch bowling angles proved effective. Bowling on a good length over the wicket, Hazlewood induced an edge as Taijul attempted a drive, which lodged safely into the hands of Cameron Green.
