Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has detained two illegal meat traders with 45 kg of venison during separate drives in Nalian Bazar and Doyaner Gate areas under Dacope Upazila of Khulna.
Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the matter in a press briefing sent to media on Saturday (August 15).
Earlier, an operational team from BCG Outpost Nalian conducted drives in those areas on Friday night based on a tip-off.
The estimated market value of the seized deer meat is around Tk 99,000.
The recovered venison and the detainees were handed over to the Nalian Forest Office for necessary legal action.
Coast Guard officials stated that anti-poaching and anti-trafficking operations will continue to protect Sundarbans wildlife.
