Legacy, 20 of Ayub Bachchu’s biggest hits covered by bands and artists of today

Eight years ago, Ayub Bachchu, the legendary star of Bengali band music, passed away. But his melodies still as alive in the hearts of listeners, and his legacy lives on to this very day, in more ways than one.

The celebrated star's birthday is on Sunday (August 16th). And to celebrate, 'Legacy', a special album will be released for the occasion. The album is composed of 20 Ayub Bachchu songs covered and re-arranged by bands and artists of the time.

Among the bands who pitched in are, 'Dalchut', 'Arbovirus', 'Sonar Bangla Circus', 'Shubhajatra', 'Calypso', 'Rocksalt', 'Dopamine' and 'AK Rahul'. And the solo artists include Babna Karim, Russell Ali, Romel Ali, Chandan Zaman Ali-Menon, Kaniz Suborna, Sajjad, Palash, Joy Shahriar, Adit, Bakhtiar Hossain, Atika Yamin and Autumnal Moon. All the songs were mastered by Iqbal Asif Jewel.

The album will be released through a press conference on Sunday afternoon. It will be available on various digital platforms along with the double CD. Sources said that the money raised from the album sales will go to funding the 'Ayub Bachchu Museum'.

Chishti Iqbal, coordinator of the project, said that the initiative to re-release these songs in a compilation album on Ayub Bachchu’s birthday to mark the occasion. This initiative by the Ayub Bachchu Foundation will also advance the dream of preserving his used guitar, clothes and other memorabilia.
