SONARGAON, NARAYANGANJ, Aug 15: A man died of a heart attack while participating in a marathon competition organised by Sonargaon Runners in the Balua Dighirpar area of Sonargaon Municipality at around 6 am on Friday.
The deceased Tipu Sultan, 40, was the son of late Razzak Mia of Kathkhal Village in Mithamoin Upazila of Kishoreganj District and the personal assistant of industrialist Haji Ashraf Uddin of Mograpara area in Sonargaon.
It is known that about 600 competitors from different parts of the country participated in the 7.5-km competition that started from the Panamnagar Aminpur ground of Sonargaon Municipality. Among the competitors were local Mograpara UP chairman candidate and industrialist Haji Ashraf Uddin and several members of his family.
For the safety of the family members, Ashraf Uddin’s PA Tipu Sultan set off on foot with them. On the way he suddenly felt chest pain and suffered a heart attack in the Balua Dighirpar area. He was rushed to Sonargaon Sheba General Hospital and later to Madanpur Al Baraka Hospital where he was declared dead.
Chief organiser of the event Shimul Bhuiyan, the chief guest and Narayanganj-3 (Sonargaon-Siddhirganj) Constituency MP Azharul Islam Mannan, Upazila BNP General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain and others expressed deep sorrow at the death of Tipu Sultan.
