Bangladesh has beaten Australia on Australian soil to claim their first-ever Test victory.
A truly unforgettable moment for Bangladesh cricket -- the Tigers have conquered Australia in their own backyard!
After Hasan Mahmud’s six-wicket haul in the first innings and Tanzid Hasan Tamim’s century, Bangladesh began to believe that something historic could be achieved.
The team and its supporters had not expected much before the tour of Australia, but the two dominant performances with bat and ball changed the mood. Bangladesh eventually delivered, securing their first-ever Test victory in Australia by nine wickets.
The victory came 23 years after Bangladesh last played a Test in Australia. It also capped a remarkable turnaround after they were bowled out for 54 by a Cricket Australia XI in their tour match last week.
Earlier, Bangladesh had bowled Australia out for 198 in the first innings before making 426, taking a 228-run lead. Tanzid Hasan made his maiden Test century, while Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 84 and Miraz made 65.
Hasan Mahmud took six wickets in Australia’s first innings and three in the second. Taskin Ahmed took the other wicket.
